چکیده
The concept of the modular multilevel converter (MLC) has been raising interest in research order to improve their performance and applicability. potential an MLC is enormous, with a great focus on medium- high-voltage applications, such as solar photovoltaic wind farms, electrified railway systems, or power distribution systems. This makes it possible overcome limitation semiconductors blocking voltages, presenting advantageous characteristics. However, complexity implementation control presents added challenges. Thus, this paper aims contribute critical comparative analysis state-of-the-art aspects maximize its potential. In paper, different electronics topologies that can be integrated into are presented, highlighting advantages disadvantages each topology. Nevertheless, modulation techniques used also presented analyzed. Computational simulations all under were developed, based four cascaded full-bridge topologies. Considering simulation results, was make regarding symmetry synthesized waveforms, harmonic content, submodule constituting MLC.

Submodule Temperature Regulation and Balancing in Modular Multilevel Converters
In modular multilevel converters (MMCs), tem5 perature control of semiconductor devices in the submod6 ules (SMs) is a key factor for the safe and reliable opera7 tion. Under normal operation, significant temperature differ8 ences can exist between SMs due to, for example, aging of 9 semiconductor modules and module parameter mismatch. 10 This paper presents a method for achieving SM thermal ba...
متن کاملA Comparison of Modulation Techniques for Modular Multilevel Converters
Abstract: This work presents a comparison of three different modulation techniques applied to modular multilevel converters (MMCs). The three modulation strategies studied in this paper are the phase-shifted sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PS-SPWM), the space-vector modulation (SVM) and the nearest level modulation (NLM). This paper focuses on analysing the particularities and implementation...

Multilevel converters have been continuously developed in recent years due to the necessity of increase in power level of industrial applications especially high power applications such as high power AC motor drives, active power filters, reactive power compensation, FACTS devices, and renewable energies [1-9]. Multilevel converters include an array of power semiconductors and capacitor voltage...
متن کاملModular Multilevel Converters: Control and Applications
This review article is mainly oriented to the control and applications of modular multilevel converters (MMC). The main topologies of the switching modules are presented, for normal operation and for the elimination of DC faults. Methods to keep the capacitor voltage balanced are included. The voltage and current modulators, that are the most internal loops of control, are detailed. Voltage con...
